About the University

Niğde Ömer Halisdemir Üniversitesi is a public university established in Niğde in 1992 under the name of Niğde University. In 2016, the university was named Ömer Halisdemir University.

The aim of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir Üniversitesi is to raise individuals who are researching, questioning, participatory, think universally, with ethical and cultural values; To contribute to the development of the country and the region with the awareness of respect for the environment by providing the development of science, technology and art.

The goal of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir Üniversitesi is to become a pioneering and innovative university focused on regional development, specialized in priority areas, serving society.

With the law numbered 3837 dated July 3, 1992, Ağrı Education Higher Education College was converted to Ağrı Education Faculty and continued to provide education at the undergraduate level for primary education until 2007, under Atatürk University.

Depending on the rectorate of Atatürk university 73 of the Law No. 5662 of 17.05.2007. The name of our university, which was established as Mount Ararat University, was changed as Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University with the law numbered 5773 and entered into force by being published in the Official Gazette dated 28.06.2008 and numbered 26920. The University started education by taking his first students in 2003-2004 academic year.
