The Department of Translation and Interpreting of Beykoz University aims to train professional translators and interpreters by providing in-depth knowledge of translation theories, methods and procedures and to equip the students with transferable professional skills required in the highly competitive global translation industry.
The Department offers training in translation, interpreting, textual analysis and technical writing, translation theory and criticism, translation technologies, linguistics, editing and proofreading as well as training on the various fields of expertise such as literary translation, media translation and legal translation.
The programme will provide the students with extensive professional training aimed at the translation and interpreting markets and equip the students with advanced research skills and research paradigms relevant to investigations of translation contexts, processes, products and producers.
The Translation and Interpreting Degree Programme Graduates; will have knowledge of the basic theoretical and methodological approaches in translation studies as well as knowledge about linguistic and cultural differences realized in different linguistic expressions.
The graduates will know the different aspects of translation and linguistic study and the meta-language related to the aspects of translation and linguistic study. They will have the skills to identify the semantic features of different parts of speech, the ways of paraphrasing, summarizing and re-writing and text types and related translation strategies.
The graduates will be equipped with knowledge of the translation technologies as well as the ethical principles and values of the translation profession and the responsibilities involved in conducting translation projects.
