The First Aid and Emergency Services Programme of Beykoz Univesity educates medical technicians who will have the competency to take responsibility as an individual or as a team member in the execution of complex and unforeseen activities encountered in the applications related to emergency healthcare services.
The programme is designed to train the students in emergency aid and rescue, emergency patient care, bleeding control, vascular access and some basic drug applications.
The programme aims to equip students with the skills to be able to make fast and correct decisions, and that they are careful, calm and have a strong sense of responsibility as well as the ability to communicate well with others under stressful emergency situations.
The graduates will be able to work; providing emergency assistance to the police or firefighters when necessary to ensure that the patient is safely placed in the ambulance, providing emergency care to the patient on the way, delivering the patient to a health facility, informing the relevant persons about the patient’s condition and emergency assistance in the emergency department of hospitals, and can act as ambulance driver.
The First Aid and Emergency Services Associate Degree Programme Graduates; will be equipped with sufficient infrastructure in the fields required by the First Aid and Emergency Services area. They will have theoretical and practical knowledge in the field and they will have the skills to take responsibility in pre-hospital emergency care and evaluate patients in case of emergencies.
The graduates will have mastered the anatomy and the systems and basic structures of the human body. They will have knowledge of the general approach to trauma patients and the effective use of the trauma equipment. They will be able to apply physical and mental assessment of emergency cases according to first and second medical evaluation principles.
The graduates will be able to plan, manage and implement first aid and emergency services techniques to the injured in the case of an emergency and will be able to recognize, use and maintain all materials and equipment in the ambulance.
The graduates will have the competency to reach the emergency scene as soon as possible, evaluate the situation, make the first intervention when necessary and ensure the transfer of the patient to the emergency department accordingly.
