Gastronomy and Culinary Arts is a profession for those individuals whose kitchen has been transformed into a lifestyle.
The programme is designed to equip students with the theoretical as well as the practical knowledge in the area of gastronomy and culinary arts, and aims to educate individuals as competent experts in their field who will be able to perform both nationally and internationally.
Students will have the opportunity to learn about Turkish and World cuisines along with nutrition, food science, food hygiene, and food and beverage management.
Since eating and drinking is an art, students are also given training in areas such as art history and creativity.
The Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Degree Programme Graduates; will have knowledge of nutrition principles and the science of food. They will be able to prepare different country cuisine dishes with the knowledge of their origin and characteristics. The graduates will have an understanding of the relationship between food and chemistry, hence the chemical and structural changes that food and cooking processes undergo. They will have knowledge on the processes related to food and beverage production from the purchasing stage to the presentation stage.
The graduates will know how to plan the physical environment related to the kitchen, to recognize, use and protect the equipment, tools and technologies and be able to apply business procedures efficiently and effectively by using up-to-date information and communication technologies.
