Dialysis is the process of removing excess water, solutes, and toxins from the blood in people whose kidneys can no longer perform these functions naturally and dialysis technicians are the direct caregivers for those undergoing dialysis.
The aim of the Dialysis Programme at Fenerbahçe University is to train health technicians equipped with the knowledge, skill and abilities to operate dialysis equipment with an understanding of the emotional toll the ongoing process can take on patients
The programme aims to equip the students with the competency to interpret and evaluate data, identify problems, analyse and develop evidence based solutions using knowledge and skills at basic level in the field.
The graduates of the programme may pursue employment opportunities at the dialysis units of state and private hospitals. They may also work at establishments operating under the Ministry of Health, social security hospitals, university hospitals or polyclinics.
The Dialysis Associate Degree Programme Graduates; will have basic theoretical and practical knowledge in dialysis. They will be able to use the tools and equipment at the basic level.
The graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot dialysis equipment. They will have extensive knowledge about the urinary system and its problems, and they will know sterilization, disinfection, asepsis and antisepsis and have the ability to work under aseptic conditions.
The graduates will have an understanding of the importance of hygiene rules. They will have gained efficiency in practice and have the abilities to maintain a safe environment by following infection control protocols, occupational health and safety guidelines and established standards of care.
The graduates will have the competency to work effectively, ethically, and professionally both individually and as part of an inter-professional healthcare team, perform patient care duties within assigned roles and responsibilities and document observations and care provided according to clinical and agency standards.
