As part of the developing societal level, the demand for wearing glasses is on the increase; this has resulted in the establishment of new retail firms, totally based on importing. Thus, the number of wholesalers dealing in frames and lenses for glasses has increased in the sector. Renewal and development in the sector started after the 1980s, and the sector has made a big progress in an attempt to forward each layer of the sector, from the manufacturing and laboratory tests to retail sales, to the level of advanced and developed countries.

The aim of the program is, however, to train health staff to work in field of Opticianry. The graduates of the program are entitled as ‘optician’ and can supply the optical tools designed to correct the visual disorders and apply them to the patient; they can also sell the prescription glasses, any kind of lens, frames for glasses, protctive glasses and sunglasses.

The graduates of the Program of Opticianry can be employed by the institutions manufacturing or selling glasses or in Opticianry firms.
