Health sector gains importance with the increase in world population and differentiation of the needs across the world. This nature of the sector brings about the need to bring the costs down to an optimal level, to increase the productivity and to promote the customers’ satisfaction. On the other hand, the gradual increase in the number of private health institutions in the health sector brings with itself the restructuring of the working processes depending on competition. At this point, employment of qualified personnel is of much importance.
The basic purpose of the Department of Healthcare Management at Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University is to train “health managers” who have a vision and openness to innovation, who can transfer the newly-acquired information into work processes and who have the qualifications required by the sector. Our graduates are also trained to prioritize the medical and technological developments, the increased competitive environment and the importance of the internal and external patients’ demands and satisfaction in health sector; they are also expected to acknowledge the need to improve the quality and productivity of health services and to keep above all the medical developments and production systems as well as such business fields as accounting and financing, management and organization in field of health.
Health sector is among the leading ones in which employment gap is always an issue on the agenda. On the other hand, the increase and change in the requirements leads to the introduction of new institutions to the health sector.
The graduates of the Department of Healthcare Management are entitled to work at hospitals and health institutions in public and private sector.
