An important step was taken for the qualification of labour force with the Occupational Health and Safety Law numbered 6331, regulating the duties, licenses, responsibilities, rights and liabilities of the employers and employees for the purpose of improving the working conditions and ensuring the occupational health and safety at workplaces. The liabilities of the employers, under the abovementioned law, consist of not only taking the required measures but also training the employees on occupational health and safety. However, according to the Occupational Health and Safety Law, the only associate degree program entitled to train Occupational Health and Safety experts is assigned as the Program of Occupational Health and Safety.
In the Program of Occupational Health and Safety, expert training syllabus determined by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and Vocational Qualification Institute is taken into consideration and so the purpose of the program is to train Occupational Health and Safety experts who are competent at taking any measure to ensure the occupational health and safety in public and private institutions, enabling the tools and materials to be kept in full, taking the required measures on the issue of security and informing the employees about the probable occupational risks, the measures to be taken, and their legal rights and responsibilities.
The graduates of the Program of Occupational Health and Safety have a wide range of fields to find a work at. They can find a job at the Directorates of Occupational Health and Safety Centre under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security as well as at other public institutions and in the private sector. The Occupational Health and Safety Law numbered 6331, which was revised in our country, made it necessary to do studies regarding Occupational Health and Safety in the public and private sectors and brought some sanctions. As a result, there is a growing need for the graduates of the Program of Occupational Health and Safety.
