About the University
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, a young and dynamic university, was established in 2006. Recep Tayyip Erdogan University, which started its journey with the slogan of “A University that Produces Knowledge and Value”, has a national and international reputation with its experienced staff, dynamic and competent faculty members, it is integrated with its region, and is open to innovations. Concerning education and research and R&D infrastructure, the university has managed to attract attention in a short time as one of the universities that have made significant progress in terms of academic staff, academic performance, and success.
As of today, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University has 14 Faculties, 3 institutes, 5 Schools, and 6 Vocational Schools, and 1133 instructors. The university has become a large and strong family with 753 administrative staff, 19,000 students, 1687 of whom are graduate students, and 464 international students from 46 different countries. The university offers 36 associate, 43 bachelor, 35 master, and 13 doctorate programmes.
At the same time, the university has research and application centres, which have reached up to 16, and more detailed research on many issues are conducted by expert lecturers, and the university also has 1 Training Research Hospital with a capacity of 530 beds.
In terms of academic success and performance, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University is ranked 4th among 62 universities established after 2000, exceeding 58 universities in terms of academic performance and success.
At the university, which develops and grows rapidly every year, social spaces are created for students to rest and perform their cultural and sports activities. In the Congress and Culture Center, there are cafeterias, gymnasiums, dry cleaning, post office, conference halls, dining hall, hairdressers, Family and Religious Guidance office, and many other units that allow students to spend their time outside the working hours in a high-quality way. In the Congress and Culture Center, there is a cafeteria with fast food and other options, billiards, bowling, tennis, and different game consoles. Also, Kackar Garment House, where students can take new clothes at no cost, coffee shops, indoor golf, and squash are available for students and staff.
The Central Library serves in a four-story building and the American Library of Congress Classification System, which sets a standard worldwide, is used for the classification of books. There are 107,622 books in the centre and seven smaller libraries. The library provides users with full-text electronic databases and e-journals, e-books, e-theses, and e-standards, which constitute a very important resource for scientific research, from every point of the campuses.
In addition to scientific studies, great importance is attached to social, cultural, and sports activities at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University. The university is home to a large number of scientists, artists, and highly valued guests who are experts in their fields during an academic year. In the Student Living Center, where faculties and colleges use their conference halls as well as student clubs, there are Conference Halls for 650 people and two mini movie theatres. Students can find the opportunity to play sports in many different branches in indoor and outdoor sports fields. There are 2 indoor sports halls, 1 football field carpet, 1 tennis court, and 1 multi-purpose sports field where sports such as volleyball, basketball, and handball can be played on each campus.
Located in the east of the Black Sea region of Turkey, the city of Rize is one of the leading cities in Turkey with emerald green highlands, dense forests, clean air, and unique tastes. The population of Rize, which is located on the Black Sea coast, is 330,000. Attracting many domestic and foreign tourists especially in spring and summer, Rize increases its tourism potential day by day. Nearly half of the province of Rize is covered with forests and the province has 25% of Turkey’s forests.
