The prolonged life expectancy and increased vision problems related to hereditary, occupational or environmental risks has caused an increase in the need for opticians.
The Opticianry Programme of Beykoz University is designed to train students to become able opticians who are equipped with the current knowledge and skills required by the profession and have the competencies for problem solving and communication skills.
The programme aims to contribute to the visual health field with graduates who are open to continuous personal development and have the knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to contribute to the development of the profession in accordance with the principles of professional and commercial ethics.
Graduates of the programme can open their own optical stores with the title of optician or they can work as responsible manager in optician firms. They can also be employed in ophthalmology hospitals, glass and eyewear suppliers, private practice doctors or sales and promotion of medical supplies.
The Opticianry Degree Programme Graduates; will be equipped and competent in the field of Opticianry. They will have the knowledge and abilities to produce solutions by using analytical methods and contemporary information technologies for problems that may arise.
The graduates will be equipped with theoretical and applied knowledge in the field of opticianry. They will have knowledge in the field of eye anatomy and physiology. They will know the equipment and machines required for the preparation of glasses, and have basic knowledge of vision health and diseases, and on spectacle frames and spectacle lenses.
The graduates will have the skill and abilities to use of basic vision devices and they will know the disinfection and sterilization techniques of the equipment used in the field.
The graduates will be knowledgeable in public health, safety and environmental protection rules and they will have ethical and social responsibility awareness.
